THE NEW TRAVELERS' LAW IN 3CAT'S "TOT ES MOU".
On the same day that the new travelers law came into force, we made a live connection with the program "Tot es mou" of the 3CAT platform. During the live broadcast, the presenter of the program, Alba Melero, was able to ask questions through the reporter Jordi Eroles to our commercial director Maria Texidor.
The new travelers' law is a controversial proposal, as it means a very important change in the processing of data of travelers and guests of hotels and apartments but also for those who, for example, want to rent a car to move around the city of their holiday destination.
The legal text regulates the obligations of documentary registration and communication of information of individuals or legal entities that carry out tourist accommodation and motor vehicle rental activities. The sector, despite having expressed its disagreement with this regulation and repeatedly requested the Ministry of the Interior to modify its content, considers that it has not been heard. No last minute changes are foreseen, and the regulation will enter into force as planned.
This new regulation implies an increase in the collection, registration and custody of personal data, both of travelers and associated transactions, expanding the type and amount of information required. This implies a greater risk in terms of compliance with the LOPDGDD (Organic Law on Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights) and the RGPD (General Data Protection Regulation).
